Salobre Old Course

In the south of Gran Canaria, within the Salobre Golf & Resort, the Old Course is the layout that gave rise to the complex. It opened in 1999 and was designed by Roland Favré as an 18-hole, par 71 course. Since then, it has established itself as one of the most recognisable courses on the island. The design adapts to the volcanic terrain, between ravines and terraced slopes. Favré positioned tees at different heights, wide fairways in several sections, and relatively small greens, which require precise second shots. The contrast between rock, native vegetation, and wood forms part of its visual identity, always integrated into the valley environment.

Although it is an accessible course for players of different levels, it has holes that demand precision, especially the par 3s. Hole 11 is the most talked about due to its difficulty and the green surrounded by natural stone. This combination of spaciousness from the tee and challenge around the green sets the pace of the round. Throughout its history, it has hosted significant competitions, including the PGA of Spain in 2006 and national senior and women’s championships.

In recent years, the course has undergone improvements focused on the quality of the greens and sustainable management of the environment, strengthening its position within the resort’s 36-hole offering. The Old Course is, above all, a course that understands the landscape and makes it part of the game. Here, golf moves to the rhythm of the mountain and the Atlantic wind, with Gran Canaria as a permanent backdrop.
