Anahita Golf Course

On the east coast of Mauritius, Anahita Golf Course features its 18 holes par 72 stretching over 6,828 meters between volcanic land and the blue Indian Ocean.

Designed by Ernie Els and opened in 2008, it was the first course on the island built to USGA standards, a technical detail that is evident in the quality of its surfaces and in the care of the drainage and greens. The layout naturally integrates into a tropical sanctuary surrounded by mountains and bordered by a crystal-clear lagoon. Els designed large open spaces and five tees per hole, allowing the experience to be adapted to different skill levels without altering the strategic essence of the course. Six holes overlook the ocean directly.

These are not just scenic features: the coastal wind introduces a constant tactical factor, requiring players to measure trajectories and select clubs carefully. The final stretch embodies part of the course’s character, with a seaside finish that demands accuracy from the tee and steady nerves on approach shots. The wide fairways invite free play, but well-placed bunkers and penalizing risk areas reward careful planning.

Anahita is not an intimidating course, but it is honest: it rewards strategy and solid execution. In Mauritius, where the landscape sets the pace, this course finds a clear balance between contemporary design and natural surroundings, with the ocean as a permanent backdrop.
